What is street photography?

Street photography is one of those terms that is hard to define because it means something different to each person.

For me, street photography is a way of documenting humanity and capturing life in all of its beautiful raw reality as it happens.

It can be done in public spaces on busy sidewalks, in subways, at the mall, in the park, or can even be done in indoor public spaces like the grocery store or the big box stores.

There are a lot of different styles in street photography. Some folks only shoot candid, some only street portraiture, some try to capture witty observations, and others love urban landscapes. For me, I love it all. I love to shoot in many of the different styles. At the end of the day what it boils down to is finding the style, or styles, that best fits your voice, shoot from the heart, and share your work and your passion with the world.
