Shoot Your Loved Ones
There are many reasons to encourage you to photograph your loved ones. More than I could ever explain here. Each person has different motivating factors when it comes to why we do and do not do things.
“Cameras, in the hands of photographers with hearts can capture LOVE, HOPE, PASSION, change lives, and make this world a better place… and it only takes 1/500th of a second.” — Eddie Adams
So, with that in mind, here are a few reasons why I think you should take your best camera and photograph your loved ones more, and then share those images with the world.
With your camera in hand…
… you are documenting things for those that don’t even exist yet. One day they will be looking at these photographs and start asking questions. Questions about family history, events that took place, and the people that are in the pictures. In the process, they will learn more about themselves.
Your Kids Will Grow Up
One day you’re at the hospital welcoming a precious new life into the world and a couple of days later you are waving to them as they drive off on their new adventures as a newly married couple.
Your Parents and Loved Ones Will Grow Older and Be Gone One Day
I know death is not the best thought in the world, but it is a reality and something to keep in mind and help keep us motivated to capture these moments and memories while we have them here.
You Will Want to Document Your Journey With Your Spouse or Partner
I couldn’t think of anyone else I would want to do this thing called life with other than Kim. She is my best friend, my confidant, my lover, the mother of my children, business partner, and voice of reason when I get irrational. I want to capture those memories and document our journey together for our kids and grandkids to look back on with fondness.
You Will Want Memories to Look Back On
There will be places you go, experiences that you have that you will want to look back on and remember the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings you had at that moment. With photographs, you can do that.
So, grab that camera and go shoot your loved ones.
Well said! I love being able to look back at memories. The pictures don’t have to be perfectly framed, perfectly exposed, etc…the memory alone makes them worth taking!
